How to Tackle Climate Change USE WOOD!!!
The use of more wood for construction is a natural and easy way to make a difference for the environment. Wood reduces greenhouse gases and stores carbons. A healthy sustainable forest is a readily available solution to climate change. On an average a healthy growing tree absorbs 1 ton of carbon dioxide and releases ¾ ton of oxygen per cubic metre of growth. As growth slows and the tree ages, less carbons are absorbed. Pioneer Log Homes of British Columbia and the Pioneer Group are committed to reforestation and using wood from local areas to reduce harmful carbons released to the environment by other fossil fuels. Pioneer is committed to social, environmental and economical, responsibility over the long term. Did you know that the standard or typical North American Home stores approximately 28 tons of carbon? That is the equivalent of running the family car for 5 years. Pioneer Log Homes of British Columbia is in the process of conducting a study to compare our log homes, against a typical North American home to see what the difference is in the amount of carbon that it stores. (A log home is built with more wood and wood finishes, than the average or typical North American home) British Columbia is the global leader in sustainable forest management. There is more land certified through a third party forest certification program than any other jurisdiction, with the exception of Canada as a whole. Pioneer is committed to the use of wood from sustainable forests. We feel that the use of wood from sustainable and well managed forests is an excellent environmental choice.
