Pioneer’s Post and Beam Homes

In addition to our traditional handcrafted full-scribe log homes, Pioneer Log Homes is proud to offer the Post & Beam style as another option for our customers. Post and Beam homes utilize a combination of vertical and horizontal beams to create a sturdy structural framework. However, unlike traditional P&B homes, we take a unique approach by cutting the slabs only where necessary, typically for framing or roof pitches, leaving the rest of the log intact to be hand-peeled. This method allows us to preserve the natural integrity of the logs, resulting in a distinctive appearance similar to our handcrafted log homes.

Each of our slabs is meticulously hand-cut by our skilled workers using chainsaws. They are then carefully brushed down to meet the desired specifications and finally sanded to achieve near-perfect flatness. Through the use of various joinery techniques, including mortise and tenon, dovetail joints, and dowels, we are able to intricately connect all the components of the house, assembling it like a massive puzzle.

Our Post and Beam homes offer a unique log look that captures the essence of rustic charm, while also providing a more cost-effective alternative to our full-scribe log homes. By incorporating the Post and Beam style, customers can enjoy the benefits of a log home at a more affordable price point without compromising on the overall aesthetic appeal.

Furthermore, it is not uncommon for us to create hybrid homes that combine elements of both full-scribe and Post & Beam construction.
