Pi•o•neer: a person who is among the first to explore a new country
Although Kazakhstan has indeed been explored for thousands of years, this is the first time Pioneer Log Homes of BC has worked in the country and so Joel & Shawn are our very own “Pioneers” on this project. They have headed off to Almaty, Kazakhstan to install a 920 square foot Sauna. This sauna is our trial run as the next project is a potential 13,000 square foot luxury log home. As with all trial runs, it has been a valuable learning experience for all involved.
Construction started here at our Williams Lake yard in summer 2013 and finished three months later.
The sauna was then packed up for its long journey. The logs travelled by truck to the coast, by rail to Montreal, by ocean vessel to Lithuania & lastly, by Russian railway & trucks to Almaty, Kazakhstan. The entire journey took nearly two months. Joel & Shawn will now catch up with the logs in Almaty and take them to their final destination for installation.
Almaty is the largest city in Kazakhstan, with 9% of the country’s population, and is the major commercial and cultural centre of the country. The city is located in the extreme southeast of Kazakhstan in the foothills of the Ili Alatau mountains.
The sauna will be assembled close to the city in a special location chosen by the client specifically for its tranquil environment & stunning surroundings – the perfect place for a Pioneer Log Homes Sauna!
